These are some photos from a Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin Wedding.
The wedding couple, Diana and Damian, was from Hayes, Middlesex, United Kingdom. The wedding couple chose our Unlimited Package with 8 hours of photography coverage from 2PM to 10PM. The photography coverage started with getting ready at 2PM. We alternated between the bride’s hotel room and groom’s hotel room. They were getting in their own separate hotel room. Usually for Asian’s wedding, the wedding couple would be getting ready in a same hotel room.
The wedding ceremony was held in a Thai structure right by the beach. It was a bit hard for us to photograph this as the struct is a raise platform so it’s not easy to a tight head shot. A tele photo lens was requires for this wedding. After the wedding ceremony, we spent about 10 minutes doing group photos with family, friends and other wedding guests. Once we’re done with that, we moved onto doing portraits of bride and groom around the resort and on the beach. This lasted for about additional 15-20 minutes.
The reception was also held at the resort. There were speeches, cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss. We wrapped up our documentary photography coverage at 10PM and the couple got their wedding photos from us within a month after their wedding.
Almost the entire wedding was photographed with our unique documentary approach. We do not pose, we do not direct, we literally do not talk to the wedding couple or the wedding guests for most part of the wedding. The only time where they heard from us was when we greet them and when we were doing group photos and portraits because this part, some directions were required. However, for the rest of the wedding, we were like fly on the wall. We stayed around, remained low-key, capturing every moment. The smiles, laughters and tears in these photos were all real. When you see some wedding photos of the wedding couple smiling and especially when they smile at camera, those were staged by the wedding photographers. We do not believe these staged photos are good enough. They are simply not real. What we capture are real moments. When you look back at your wedding photos, they will remind you of your wedding day, your emotion at that time. This is priceless. Our documentary approach to wedding photography is not easy. Not everybody can do it, especially not new photographers. It requires constant attention to little details, or in this case, full attention from us for 8 straight hours. It is extremely physically demanding job being on our feet for this long. Because the moments we capture are real, there is no way to know when they will happen. The only way to achieve this is to always be present. There is just no other way.
